Light the Way with Kondoli: Get Involved in the Lantern Workshops and Parade

The Kondoli Lantern Parade is one of the most anticipated highlights of the Winter Whale Fest, bringing together community, culture, and creativity in a breathtaking evening of light and storytelling.

This beautiful event honours Kondoli, the whale man — a central figure in the Ngarrindjeri and Ramindjeri creation story — through a glowing procession of hand-crafted lanterns, led by Elders and artists who guide us in sharing this important cultural narrative.

Be Part of the Magic: Join a Workshop

In the last week of June, free community workshops are being held at the Victor Harbor Town Hall, where participants are helping create large-scale creature lanterns for the parade. Guided by Ngarrindjeri and Ramindjeri artists and Elders, these hands-on sessions are a chance to connect, learn, and contribute to something truly meaningful.

Whether you're an artist or just love getting involved, there's a role for everyone. The workshops combine cultural storytelling with creative making — and no prior experience is needed.
